No Accidents

Post 5 of 10 of LoveYourzStory’s Jhené Aiko Series. Inspired by “Limbo Limbo Limbo.”

I’m deep in my Jhené Era. She’s def the top artist I’ve been listening to on repeat for at least the last 6 months. This series will be a showcase of how her music has inspired me throughout this journey – the journey back to self✨️

I am exactly where I’m supposed to be.

Everything is calculated down to each second.

There’s no such thing as right place, wrong time.

Believe that some things were just never meant to happen.

I’m a firm believer that there are no accidents.

Each moment is strung together for a bigger purpose.

If everything is meant to be, there is no such thing as wasted time.

I used to mourn lost time, wasted time, too much time.

But everything is connected, there are no coincidences.

You will never be too early or too late for what’s yours.

Right place. Right time. No wasted time.

Like The Moon

I’ll forever be entranced by the moon’s beauty.

How mighty her gravitational pull is for everything and everyone on earth.

We don’t question the moon’s many phases.

In fact, we celebrate them. We study them.

Her cycle pushes and pulls the energies.

They close old doors and welcome new beginnings.

She has taken many hits, leaving craters that can be seen from miles away.

But still, she is delicate yet potent.

Oh, to be loved like the moon…

Accepted through all my many stages and cycles.

But more importantly…

To love myself like I love the moon.

She can’t be full at all times, but we know her power.

The moon’s energy is still present, even at her lowest.

She’s picture perfect in every stage.

That is my wish for you – accept yourself in every stage of the journey.

Give yourself grace and see yourself like you see the moon.

Fuck Yes

If it’s not a “fuck yes,” I don’t want it.

Don’t confuse your uncertain indifferent “I guess”

with an assured and undeniable “fuck yes.”

Never again.

Be confident in your choices.

Gone are the days of people pleasing.

Make a conscious effort to only entertain

what brings sparks to your heart.

If it’s not a “fuck yes,” it’s a “fuck no.”

My Cup

I am responsible for filling my own cup.

That was a lesson I had to learn time and time again the hard way.

I used to question why I would feel so drained and exhausted,

not realizing that I was willingly filling the cups of others to the brim.

And in the end, I was always left without.

On the flipside, when my cup was half full,

I would expect to get that same outpour.

I would show receipts of why my cup was empty,

and though they were valid, I was unknowingly repeating the same vicious cycle.

How did I expect lasting happiness when the moment someone filled me up, I immediately filled another?

I was tired of constantly feeling depleted,

realizing that I was doing it to myself.

It’s okay to fill the cup of others, but don’t neglect your own.

You are responsible for filling and maintaining your own cup.

How can you pour into others when you are half full?

Always fill yourself up first.
